Postwart 0.2.0 is out. The first release let you set a notification policy per Apple Mail account; this one makes those policies flexible in time and clearer in behavior.
What’s new:
- Time-limited policies. Silence an account for 15 minutes, a few hours, a custom duration, or permanently, with a live countdown. When the timer runs out, the account goes back to Notify on its own.
- Working-hours schedules. Set your weekly working hours once, then give an account a policy that applies during or outside them, for example silent on the work account after hours. A policy you pick by hand always wins over the schedule.
- Sound override. Postwart can mirror Apple Mail’s new-mail sound or play one of its own. A new override lets you keep a Postwart sound even after silencing Mail’s own chime, so silenced accounts stay quiet instead of sneaking a sound past you.
One behavior change worth knowing: Silent now suppresses every notification, including VIP and high-priority mail. If you still want key contacts to break through, use the new VIP only policy. Existing Silent accounts are migrated to VIP only automatically, so nothing you set before gets louder or quieter than you expect.
Postwart stays what it was: a small menu bar app, no IMAP client, no credentials, no message bodies leaving your Mac. It updates itself through Sparkle, so 0.1.0 users get 0.2.0 on the next check.
